Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a remarkable medical treatment that has helped thousands of people with a wide variety of serious health conditions—from neurological disorders and chronic inflammation to wound healing and post-surgical recovery. As the benefits of HBOT become more widely known, more clinics are beginning to offer this therapy to their patients.

However, not all hyperbaric chambers are created equal—and that’s where your safety could be at risk.

Why Certification Matters

Before receiving HBOT anywhere, it is critical to confirm that the chamber being used is either FDA-cleared or 510(k) certified. This ensures that the equipment has been tested and approved for human use under the strict safety and performance standards required in the United States.

Unfortunately, the growing popularity of HBOT has led to a wave of unregulated and illegally imported hyperbaric chambers flooding the market. Many of these devices are manufactured overseas—particularly in China—by companies looking to make a profit without regard for
safety, compliance, or patient outcomes.

Brands like Macy Pan, Airvida, and Oxygen Health Systems are not FDA-cleared and are not legal for medical use in the U.S. They are often made from cheap materials and constructed using unsafe, non-medical manufacturing standards. The result? Patients are
unknowingly being placed in environments that could put their health—and lives—at risk.

Training Is Just As Important

Having FDA-cleared equipment is only half the equation. Proper operation of a hyperbaric chamber also requires extensive training. No matter how advanced the equipment, it must be handled by a certified and experienced provider who understands the pressures, safety protocols, and emergency procedures that come with oxygen therapy.

You should never settle for one without the other. Safe HBOT requires both certified equipment and qualified providers.

Our Commitment to Safety Since 2018

I am proud to say that I have been operating the first hyperbaric oxygen chambers in Northwest Montana since 2018. I currently use two OxyHealth Vitaeris 320 chambers—soft-sided, FDA-cleared units made right here in the United States. OxyHealth is one of only four
companies in the U.S. whose chambers are fully compliant with FDA standards for safety, reliability, and human use.

My clinic has always upheld the highest standards of integrity and patient care, and that includes the equipment we use. I chose OxyHealth because their dedication to quality and safety mirrors my own. We do not—and will never—cut corners.

What You Need to Ask Before Getting HBOT

Before undergoing HBOT at any facility, make sure to ask these three important questions:

1. Is the chamber FDA-cleared or 510(k) certified?
2. Who is the manufacturer of the chamber?
3. Are the providers trained and certified to operate the equipment?

If the answer to any of these is unclear or unsatisfactory—do not proceed with treatment.

Final Thoughts: You Deserve Safe, Effective Therapy

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy is an incredibly effective tool when used properly. But as with any medical treatment, your safety must come first. Choosing an uncertified chamber, no matter how affordable or accessible it seems, is a risk you should never have to take.

At our clinic, your health is our mission, and your safety is our promise.
